Hey Everyone,
I’m not a big speech maker, but I did want to put something up on here after the weekend at the National Centre Fire Championship hosted by SSAA Coffs Harbour.
I’m still pretty blown away with how it all went — I was lucky enough to come away with:
- National 2 Gun win
- National 3 Gun win
- National 4 Gun win
- A Grand Aggregate record in Sporter
- And (pending confirmation) a potential new 4 Gun record
I’m stoked, but more than anything I’m grateful — results like that don’t happen without a lot of good people and a well-run shoot.
What I’m most proud of though is being part of this community. The competition is top shelf, but it’s the people that make it — the help on the benches, the laughs between details, the “have a look at this” conversations, and the way everyone gets around each other. It’s honestly a bloody good sport to be involved in, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
Big thanks to:
- SSAA Coffs Harbour for hosting and all the organisers for putting on a smooth, well-run championship
- Range Officer, target crew, and scorers/data entry — you make the whole thing happen
- Everyone who travelled and came along to compete — the standard is getting higher every year and it’s great to be part of it
- The people who helped me out over the weekend (you know who you are) — whether it was gear help, wind chats, or just keeping things light between details
Special mention
A special mention to Ian Thompson, our National Scorer — thanks for the massive amount of work you put in and the dedication you’ve shown to the sport over the years. A lot of people don’t see what goes on behind the scenes, and it’s fair to say you’ve sacrificed plenty of your own shooting time (and your own shooting career in the process) to make sure the rest of us can turn up and compete with proper results and a well-run program. It’s genuinely appreciated.
Also — thank you for the support
And a genuine thanks to everyone who came over to support the Utopian Rifle Solutions stall, and to everyone who grabbed shirts and hats over the weekend. That support doesn’t just help on the day — it helps fund and keep Benchrest Australia running, and it’s appreciated more than I can say.
Massive congrats to all the other placegetters and anyone who shot a PB — there was some seriously good shooting across the board.
Keen to hear how everyone else’s weekend went — chuck your highlights (and any photos) in the replies.
