Tack Driver Australia – Inaugural Precision Shooting Event

Welcome precision shooters! Tack Driver Australia is Australia’s first-ever 300 metres Group Score targets in a single benchrest competition, bringing a unique and exciting format that has been a sell-out success in the USA to our shores.

Event Details

  • Dates: Saturday 18 July – Sunday 19 July 2026
  • Practice Day: Friday 17 July from Midday
  • Location: Colo Benchrest Club
  • Entry Fee: $85 per day
  • Distance: 300 metres
  • Targets: Group, Score, Concept Target (alternating)
  • Maximum Competitors: 75

Who Should Compete

  • All precision shooters welcome – If you have a suitable rifle, come and compete.
  • Benchrest shooters, F-Class shooters all encouraged to participate.

Course of Fire

  • Day 1 (Saturday): Warmer target at 9:00am, followed by 6 targets alternating Group, Score, Concept Target, Group, Score, Concept Target.
  • Day 2 (Sunday): 6 targets alternating Fly, Group, Score, Fly, Group, Score starting at 9:00am.
  • Each target detail is 20 minutes apart with 3 details per target.

Scoring

  • Group Target will be a group measurement.
  • Score Target will be measured with score and central hits.
  • Concept Target will be scored for points with no extra points for group measurement.
  • Aggregate will be determined by finishing places. Calculated by shooters placing in each of the three disciplines. Example: if you finish 3rd in group 15th in fly and 8th in score your aggregate is 26. Smallest number wins. If there is a tie, there will be a countback starting with target 1 then 2 and so on.

Shooting Rules

  • All shooting will be from a bench – no shooting from the ground.
  • No moving backers: scorer will determine shot count and their decision is final.
  • No coaching allowed during shooting.
  • Competitors must use the same gun and caliber throughout the event.

Equipment Rules

  • Rifles up to 8mm or subject to range limitations.
  • No rail guns.
  • No weight limit.
  • One-piece rests are not permitted; bipod, rest and bag combinations are allowed.
  • No electronic devices on the bench except timer.

Camping & Accommodation

  • Camping is available on the range.
  • Facilities include toilets, showers, kitchen access, and BBQ.
  • Power is available in the shed and reloading room but not at the campsites.
  • Limited accommodation is available nearby.

Food & Catering

  • Food will be available for purchase on competition days for lunch and breakfast.
  • A free BBQ will be supplied on Saturday night.
