Sporter class BAT SV Right feed left eject, March 40x scope, Barrel twist rate 1.13 6mm PPC load 29.6 Vit N133, projectile 65 Berger BT

Light Barrel BAT DS Left feed right eject, March 40 x scope,  Barrel krieger 1.13 6mm PPC load 29.3 2219 projectile 68gn SMBT copperheads

Heavy Barrel BAT DS Left Feed right eject, March 40x scope, Barrel Krieger 1.13 6mm PPC load 29.6 8208 projectile 68gn SMBT Copperheads

There are a lot of shooters who switch barrels, personally once I get a rifle shooting how I want it to harmonically I leave it alone. Some ranges lend itself to changing loads looking for smaller groups. I believe that managing the group centre with an accurate rifle is more beneficial then a dream load in calm conditions. Ranges like Canberra and Millmerran unless you can champion the wind to arrange your group centre then a dream load it not much use.

Hope this helps

Hi Everyone

These are my rifles all Bat all Left handed

Sporter BAT DS 3LUG Scoville stock 48*52 march scope 1.13.5 Krieger  6PPC 30 Grains N133 ,68 Grain Projectiles Kerry Moore bullets

LV BAT DS 3LUG Scarborough stock 48*52 march scope 1.13.5 Krieger  6PPC 30 Grains N133 ,68 Grain Projectiles Kerry Moore bullets

HV BAT DS 3LUG Blainey stock 48*52 March scope 1.13.5 Krieger  6PPC 30 Grains N133 ,68 Grain Projectiles Kerry Moore bullets

RAIL GUN BAT Model B Young Rail  10/60*52  March scope 1.13.5 Krieger  6MPW 34 grains N133 ,68 Grain Projectiles Kerry Moore bullets

Also spare SV action not currently set up

Plenty of people have shot with one gun and that works fine but I just like to have all four guns.

My belief is the more shoots you attend the better you get, there is only one real test that's in a Match, by all means practice heaps and work on the fine tuning of your gun. but nothing will improve your ability to shoot like attending a registered match , those little mistakes you make and ignore while practicing show up real quick at a match or when you switch off on the last group of a match and let them catch you.

Hope to see you all at the Nationals

Be good

Thanks guys, that is great info. Could you tell me if the "Sporter" class is the old "Hunter" class which I believed used a 6x scope and narrow front stock which was lighter. I have not been to a match for 20 years so appears some things have changed. Also, are the big matches (state and Nationals) run in conjunction with Rimfire or are they completely separate?

Cheers

Dave, The Sporter these days is limited by weight only, 9 pounds / 4.082kg max. Any scope power is allowed, stock up to 3" wide, same spec as Light and Heavy. This just makes it easier for those who do not wish to buy another gun. They can convert their Light into a Sporter by changing the barrel to a lighter (fluted) barrel to achieve weight limit.

Rimfire and Centrefire Nationals and State championships sare run as seperate events, would be too hard on the clubs to host 7 straight days of shooting. Lot's of other factors come into it as well.

Hi All,
I also use Bat Actions—I prefer the Model B. I'm running Krieger barrels in either 14 or 13.5 twist for both light and heavy rifles. For my sporter, I use a Bartlein gain twist. I don't have a dedicated sporter, just change barrels as needed.
I use the 48 High Master scope on all my rifles.
Loads vary a bit, but mostly I run 8208 powder between 30.3 and 30.8 grains with a 65gr BT bullet. I use Lapua cases and Federal 205M primers.
I haven't used the Alpha brass yet, but I'm sure a few of you have—how have you found it?
