[Sticky] Mentor program for new shooters.

Hi Everyone, I would like to propose to HOF members that we take on new shooters as mentors to assist them in raising their skill sets and delivering their expectations at matches. How this would work, new shooters who commence short range bench rest make it known to the group they would like to be mentored by a HOF member. HOF members would then decide which HOF member wishes to enter into this mentoring/ partnership to assist the new shooter. 1/ New shooter to the sport, Not to shooting, so regardless of age or shooting experience if the new shooter is new to Short Range then they are able to seek mentoring from HOF members. 2/ Items that would be covered - Rifle and gear Reloading Wind reading Flag set up and placement Bench technique group management Bench set up Rifle cleaning seat placement and overhold of rifle time management All these activities are the backbone of accurate shooting, HOF members have a very high level of expertise that should be passed to new shooting members of Short Range Bench Rest. Mentoring is nothing new but formalising it is, so I have extended the offer to Allister Mcmillan who has accepted the offer over to be mentored. I know there are shooters who assist other shooter right now. This initiative will be the one of the building blocks to get this great sport moving forward with membership and competitors who seek the best they can be. Once the shooter gets their first HOF point the mentoring finishes, that isn't to say the shooter is left to their own devices it means they become a member of the HOF Family which I am going to encourage everyone to seek out. I am confident this is a positive step once this program is moving forward other shooting disciplines may see the value in this and come and try the program for themselves increasing our membership. Just keeping everyone up to date with the Mentoring progress of shooters. Australia Day Match at Majura Range Canberra provided a great venue to test the knowledge and skills of these shooters who are part of the mentoring program.

Alister McMillan 10 place in sporter class 100yard, 10th place grand agg 100/200.

Damien Fry 8th place in sporter class 100yard

Rob Evans LV 200y 3rd place, Grand agg 100/200 7th place, HV 7th place 100y, 7th place 200y. 3rd place 2 gun results.

Mark Welsh .276 smallest group

Congratulations to the shooters in the mentoring program, Special Mention to Rob Evans who is progressing extremely well in the program featuring consistently high in the results. The next big event is the Nationals over the easter break in Coffs Harbour.

If you are thinking of being involved in the mentoring program reach out to those already involved and discuss if this experience is worth while and will assist you in your shooting.
