Shooting ppc heavy gun

I have spoken to a few folks and some were asking about a the rules .

I would assume that the 3 targets are shot within that each disciplines rules .

*Group is 7 minutes unlimited sighters 5 scoring.

*Score is 7 minutes unlimited sighters 5 scoring .

*Fly is 7 minutes 8 rounds only on bench 3 sighters 5 scoring .

Just confirming this is the case for the tack driver.

I was at the Vic state Fly titles on the weekend and many questions being asked about the details of the match at Colo which I was not able to answer. Shooters were asking more details about the course of fire\details on weekend. Things like how you can shoot three different cards (group, score and Fly) and compare each, how many rounds would be needed each day for the 3 cards etc.  Shooters are familiar with Group shoots or Fly but this sounds a little new to us all so would like to hear more details or point me (and others) to where we can read up on it. I think some confusion may have come from the Tack Driver rules in the USA but as far as I know they only shoot for score, but could be wrong. Thanks Dave D.

Hi Dave

The concept of the comp is for all shooters to shoot all three disciplines. The shooter with the best combined score of all 3 disciplines is the winner.

On the Saturday everyone shoots 2group targets, 2 Score targets and 2fly targets
On Sunday everyone shoots 2 fly targets , 2 score targets and 2 Group targets .

I would suggest you would require approximately 10/12 rounds for each target but you would probably use less so it’s just and estimate.

So if you had 10 rounds per target each day multiplied by 6targets that’s 60 rounds per day.

There is a large reloading area available, so keeping on top of the ammmo shouldn’t be a problem.

bring your gear with you and reload on site

I would recommend loading the first days 60 rounds at home before you attend and reload the next day’s rounds at the range at your own leisure without any pressure or preload 120 rounds and sit back and just shoo

Scoring would be done and results would be worked out on rank for each discipline

The Beat ranked shooter averaged over all 3 disciplines is the winner with 2nd and 3rd place trophies.

I hope this clarifies it a bit and if anyone . Cheers

Well said Chris, basically no matter whether you shoot Group, Score or Fly the same applies you try to put the bullet in the correct place on the paper, I would like to think there will be a briefing before we start so everyone is on the same page and questions answered.

Michael attached the rules on this forum on the 12th April, you could look back to read these, the way I see it there is no group, score or Fly rules only the Tack Driver rules for the 3 different targets, The US only shoot group and score, this is Australia Tack Driver.

I think it would be a great day shooting and more the merrier, come a have a go.

Just another side note to be aware of.

As far as I can determine every shooter will required to use the same rifle and calibre for the entire weekend

So if you start with a 6PPC ,7mm , 6.5 creedmoor, 6BR or a 308 hunting rifle that’s what you shoot all weekend. No changing rifles for each discipline.

A great way to mix it up a bit so choose your weapon wisely.Cheers
